Four months ago, while my friend was heading out for a hike, she spotted a dog running loose. Curious and concerned, she tried to find her owner, only to learn from a neighbor that she had no home and was terrified of people. She was living underneath a barn in a hole she dug out. For over a year the neighbors had been feeding and watering her, but no one could get close enough to bring her in. She was finally caught after fending for herself for about half her life.

After a brief stay at the shelter, she adopted her and named her Hope, believing she could give her the loving home she deserved. Unfortunately, Hope’s past trauma made her extremely protective, and she bit a worker who came onto her property. Because of this, no one in my community was able to take her in. With young children and frequent visitors at her home, keeping her there just isn’t possible. The only option left seemed to be euthanasia—until I learned about Dopamine K9, a program dedicated to rehabilitating dogs like Hope.

Every dollar raised will go directly to Hope’s training, rehabilitation, and care at Dopamine K9. She will cover all transportation and any other costs. She has already invested so much time and money into giving Hope a second chance, and it would break our hearts to see her survival instincts become the reason she loses her life.
