It is often difficult to imagine the extent to which hunger is a serious issue across our nation. Likewise, in Indianapolis, thousands of families are reliant on the Crooked Creek Food Pantry for a consistent and healthy source of food. As more families are suffering due to the pandemic, they are pushed to be dependent on places such as the Crooked Creek Food Pantry for food. Due to this, there has been an increased strain on the volunteers who help at food pantries as well as the food pantries themselves. Currently, the only way to move large amounts of boxed supplies is through manual labor and a non-mechanized pallet mover. As one of the Crooked Creek Food Pantry volunteers, I am reaching out to you and asking for help in order to move towards our goal of purchasing a “Walkie Stacker.”
A “Walkie Stacker” is a mechanized pallet mover that will allow volunteers to efficiently move large containers of food. “Walkie Stackers” are mechanized instruments designed to quickly and easily move large amounts of supplies that rest on wooden pallets. These pallets of food often weigh as much as 3,000 pounds and have been manually moved up inclines from delivery trucks to the food pantry up until this point. Volunteers at the food pantry would be able to take in food and supplies easily and not have to worry about weight constraints. Not only will this piece of equipment help in the mission to feed many families, it will also help protect the volunteers from injuries or physical strain.
Crooked Creek Food Pantry has specifically identified the Toyota Electric Pallet Jack as the Walkie Stacker that will best meet their needs. I hope to raise $4,200 for the food pantry to invest in a Walkie Stacker.
While $4,200 is a high goal, if many people contribute, our goal is completely within reach. That being said, any amount of support is greatly appreciated and welcomed.
