Giving Dot a second chance

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and any beautiful soul taking time to read this. We are sisters, Annie and Caty, and this is our new family member, Dot! Last Tuesday, a friend of ours found this beautiful creature tied to our mother’s fence on a 90-degree day in the city of Chicago. She is sweet as pie and was happy that our friend saved her life. We attempted to find her owner but had no luck; unfortunately, she was dumped (our friend saw an individual walking with her 40 minutes before finding her tied to the fence), and now she deserves a second chance. We did not feel it was fair to drop her off at CACC as they are at capacity with dogs being relinquished daily (and she would most likely have been euthanized given her breed and then her decline in health). There were 4 different rescues we reached out to and they were at capacity and could not take her in.
Therefore, we decided to keep her and name her Dot. Within 24 hours of finding her, Dot fell ill and needed immediate medical attention. By Thursday, her lab results showed she was positive for the parvovirus. Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious virus transmitted between canines, directly or indirectly, from contaminated canine feces. It can take a dog's life if not properly treated or vaccinated. Fortunately, she found her way into our hearts and we hope she can find her way into yours too. She is on day 4 of being in the ICU with a fantastic team of nurses and veterinarians caring for her. We are asking for your help, even if it’s just a dollar. She has very kind eyes, and when I’m with her, she curls up into my lap and is terrified she will be left behind… again. All dogs are perfect and deserve nothing but the best. I often say we humans do not deserve dogs because they have the purest of souls. Within the last year, I lost the love of my life, my heart and soul dog Synyster, and I believe he sent Dot our way, knowing we could give her the loving home she deserves. Thank you so very much for your generosity and time. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for your kindness and compassion.
