Hi Friends of Megan, James, Parker, Madysen, and Jack,

 

If you fall into that camp, then you already know what a special person Megan is and what a special family the Setaros are. They love hard and well - each other, their friends, and their community. Odds are, your life has been touched by their kindness in some way.

 

It's time for all of those seeds of love they have sewn to come back to them full force from those who care about them and want to help!

 

Megan has been dealing with health issues for a long time now. After multiple hospital stays without a return to health, James and Megan made the decision to travel to New York for treatment at New York Presbyterian Irving Medical Center in December. She has been there since then, and, although her surgery was successful, she has suffered other setbacks that have had her in and out of the ICU and unable to eat, walk, and often even sit up. Being the strong spirit she is, though, Megan continues to fight to get better and to come home! James has been incredible, working from NY and making sure that Megan knows she is loved and that she gets the best care possible. Family has been taking care of the kids, who were finally able to get permission to see Megan for the first time and have traveled there today (2/20/22).

 

This is a family who is smart, who has saved, and who could make it through this ordeal on their own (which they had planned to do), but no one should have to go this alone! They are so loved and it is a gift to be able to help them. James wants everyone to know, however, that they feel that they have been blessed in life and no one should feel obligated to contribute financially. There are many other wonderful ways James has suggested to show love to the Setaros at this time:

 

1. Visiting Megan in person! If you are a close family friend, don't assume the answer would be no. Seeing friends in person would mean the world to Megan.

 

2. Sending Megan something through the mail such as a card, a handwritten uplifting/funny note, or a book or something small like that. Mail can be sent to:

3. Emotional and daily life help in Austin - our greatest asset is having you in our family's life. (We will get a Meal Train going once the kids return home from NY.)

 

4. Rides to and from events (baseball, football, gymnastics) are greatly appreciated as we try to keep things moving for our kids.

 

5. A weekend with your family if you have a similarly aged kiddo in Austin to be a spot for our kids to escape to and feel love.

 

Finally financially. "Please know that we will weather this no matter what," but flights or reward points would be extremely helpful. And, this Go Fund Me will be used to help offset housing costs and, potentially, medical bills.
