Giving Back to Stacie Thornburgh

Update 8/1/18
Our dear friend Stacie Thornburgh  needs our help. On July 23 2018 Stacie lost her father, Robert Thornburgh, very unexpectedly. Stacie and her Dad lived together and he has been her #1 support system with her disabilities. Robert he was complaining Sunday about not feeling right. Next thing Stacie knew he stopped breathing and she called 911. Robert's heart had stopped and despite having a implanted cardio defibrillator and a hospital staff fighting for him, they could not get his heart going again.  Stacie's dad was more than a father she shared...he was her hero and her best friend. Robert was laid to rest Monday 7/30/18 after services were paid in full per the update previously provided here at GoFundMe. But starting 7/31/18 Stacie has faced a new challenge - living alone for the first time in her life. Image what it would be like to suddenly lose your advocate, your caretaker... and to be suddenly alone in life for the firt time EVER. Stacie has always had someone there to take her food shopping, to get her medications, to manage the finances of the house. Today, Stacie's Birthday, she is faced with an overwhelming situation - how do you live independently when you were raised with the notion you would always have a caretaker to assist you 24/7. In order to maintain safe housing Stacie is now temporarily responsible for a mortgage- in addition to electric and gas bills. Stacie cannot drive and relied on her father to take care of errands, appointments etc.  She needs to find a new life -a new home, which will be a huge undertaking as she explores any community options she may qualify for that also meets her financial limitations. On top of all this Stacie is caring for her dogs and making those difficult decisions that some face when life is turned upside down out of nowhere.

The GoFundMe focus now is to support Stacie, as her community is now her family. Funds will be used to ensure she has safe housing, food on the table, access to medications and medical to keep her going. She will also need these funds to access transportation in the community since she cannot drive and cannot access public transportation at this time. In addition Stacie will be exploring her options of professional assistance for various challenges she now faces, and these funds will ensure she gets the best assistance possible.

Pray for our friend- for God to continue to give her strength, courage and safety.

Robert's heart had stopped and despite having a implanted cardio defibrillator and a hospital staff fighting for him, they could not get his heart going again.  Stacie's dad was more than a father she shared...he was her hero and her best friend - and she wants to give her father the funeral services she feels he deserves. Robert had a pre-paid plot but not a pre paid burial. Robert did have a life insurance plan however he had borrowed money from it when Stacie lost her mom to pay for her services. Stacie and her sister have roughly $2,000 from the insurance policy, however the funeral's low end estimate is just over $7,000.

Many of us have suddenly lost a loved one and know what a emotional, stressful time it can be.  Stacie feels like her whole life has been ripped apart and she does not know what the future will hold. Stacie would never come out and ask for help from her community, as she knows many are struggling too. Stacie and her sister cannot afford to cover the funeral expenses to lay their father to rest. We all know Stacie is such a kind, generous person. If we were in her shoes, despite having her own financial struggles, she would help us. Time for us to help HER.

Please take a moment and make a contribution to Robert Thornburgh's funeral so our dear friend Stacie will not have to worry about how she will lay her best friend to rest...

Funds raised will be sent directly to the funeral home, GH Herrmann. Services cannot be scheduled until paid in full so we need to campaign quickly over the next few days. If there are by chance any additional funds not used, these funds will go to Stacie as she figures out where her life will take her, now that her beloved father is gone.
