Giving back to Rick!

As many of you may know, Rick & Debbie Berbereia are a fantastic couple and have been married for 32 years. They have two wonderful grown children that live out of state. They have a fabulous 8th grader who they love very much! The Berbereia's also have a son now in Heaven, Tanner. Through it all, they are faithful, hard-working, caring, strong, God-fearing people who love to serve the Almighty and their community. Rick & Debbie moved to Marion, IN, from Visalia, CA five years ago to join in the work that takes place at the Grant County Rescue Mission. Board Chair Brad Terhune says, "Rick brings a transforming mindset to everything he does in this community. Closed-down and empty buildings are transformed into places full of activity and life. Basic gatherings are transformed into a family of God reunions. Through Rick's openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit, lives are rescued throughout the community and beyond. I have had the honor of watching Rick be transformed, too! He works daily to follow Jesus' lead and make him known."
Life change happens here because of Rick's desire to follow Jesus' transforming work everywhere it might go... and it goes everywhere! We are so glad Rick is an integral, motivating leader for our #GCRMFamily!

On September 23, 2022 Rick was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) that is nonsurgical and non-chemically treatable, and a liver transplant is the only option at this point. Rick's body is also in acute renal failure. The last few days have seen ups and downs.
A recent post from Debbie stated: Good morning. They told us the biopsy was inconclusive . They are going to do another biopsy, and the results will be another 2-3 days. His ammonia level is very high, so they are giving him lactulose (and if you know, you know what that means), and his uric acid is very high. He is very disoriented, super agitated and a little combative in doing things. Still so many concerns with the whole renal system being in bad condition as they all need to get better to start a plan. Pray for Rick to have peace in his body and mind and that the healing of Heaven would be his portion today. Would you join us in lifting this great family up in prayer? Prayer for peace, wisdom and healing on this side of heaven! That would mean the world to the whole family.

I'd also like to ask you to give. Rick & Debbie are always willing to give and help others, but never ask for anything for themselves. So, I'll ask for them...would you consider donating to help them with meals, travel, healthcare costs, etc? Even a $5 gift would be appreciated. If you have the ability to give $50 or $100 or maybe even $1000...your gift will be blessed and used for this amazing family! Peace be with you!
