I want to give back to my loving stepmother Raquel who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and with my dad taking time off work in order to support her they are in need of financial aid. I want to thank her for welcoming me with open arms when I was struggling to live by myself years ago and for treating me and loving me like her own. She helped me get a job where I enjoy working and provided me a roof over my head while I save up for my own future. She will be undergoing 4 rounds of chemotherapy then radiation treatments. With both of them out of work and two children to support, not to mention her parents who are not in the best health that she cares for....Her dad is on dialysis treatment and can no longer care for himself and her mom that had a stroke. I set the goal to $20,000 taking into account how much they pay for mortgage and monthly bills and how long they will be out of work. I haven't even taken into account how much my dad will have to pay his insurance since he is not working and contributing to his plan. She has been unable to work since July and my dad stopped working to care for her. If all the treatments go as planned, they expect her to recover by February or sometime next year. We have been living frugally in order to save what we can like changing our insurance plans for our vehicles. Also with COVID-19 being out and hitting all of us hard, we need to take extra precautions, whether it be limiting the times we go out for essentials, to me(the only one left working) maybe taking some time off work to avoid risk exposing her to this pandemic with her weakened immune system due to the chemo. Now with the help of everyone here I would like to ask for your help in giving back to the person who gives so much to her family. I know it's hard right now with the pandemic so any help would be appreciated. I haven't told her yet that I'm doing this, partly because I started this without their consent and I want to selfishly do this for her and my dad. I will update as much as I can and will post photo updates once I can no longer hide it from her.
