Giving Back to Devon

We are Sasha Smyrniotis, Lucas Dijmarescu and Jackson Kozlowski, close friends of Devon Kirtley. Devon was badly injured the night of July 5, 2020 when he and a few friends came upon faulty fireworks. It exploded causing severe damage to his hands and eyes. He has since then undergone a series of surgeries with the hopes that the doctors can restore most of his vision as well as reconstruct his hand.

Our friend Devon has been in great spirits considering the devastation that happened to him. It’s been hard emotionally for his family, who has been very supportive and doing an amazing job of caring for him. We can’t imagine what this has truly been like for all of them.  It would mean so much if we could give back to our friend.  We are thankful that he is with us today, but we want to help him and his family in raising money to cover unexpected costs as they repair his vision and re-construct Devon’s hand.

Here is what we have to say about our friend’s personality:

“Ever since I met Devon, we have been good friends. Devon is very funny and never fails to make anyone laugh. He has to be the funniest person I’ve met. Devon is never mean to his friends He is also very nice, loves to help people. For example, when we go to the skatepark and I ask him how to do a trick he will teach me and won’t leave me to figure it out on my own. All in all, Devon is a great friend and person.” – Sasha

“Devon is a good friend and recently he got injured. He is nice and he is really funny. He is also really fun to hang out with and is a caring person. He makes times fun when they are boring. He is a good rider. He is also awesome at bar spins. In general, he is a really good friend.” – Lucas

“I’ve been friends with Devon since Kindergarten. We like to ride scooters together at parks and around our neighborhoods. We also like to play video games together. Devon loves sports and being outside. When I heard Devon was hurt, I felt so bad and wanted to help him however I could. I want to make sure that he’s able to ride scooters and play video games with me again as soon as he can.”  - Jack

Devon is a rare and kind person. Even in his toughest moments he manages to keep his high spirit. You would not know that this accident has changed his life forever. He has carried a great attitude, doesn’t complain or ask for anything but our friendship. How can you help? Please share Devon's story with as many people as you can. We would be grateful for any amount you are able to donate to help us reach our goal.
