We all know someone who has had the dreaded cancer diagnosis. We all know the mental, physical, and financial strain that this can put on a family. In this case the man I am starting this GoFundMe for is not the type of person to ask for help. He is a giver. He is a giver of his time, his talents, and his incredible gift of coaching girls fastpitch softball. Joe Favata, or “Coach Joe” as many of our daughters call him, has impacted hundreds of young girls in our community. There are vey few that have not been instructed by Joe or had him as a head coach. Coach Joe is the perfect mix of intensely pushing the girls without them ever questioning his love for them. He pushes the willing to reach their potential, all the way to achieving college goals. A few months ago, Coach Joe was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He is currently undergoing treatment and he is too private to seek help. It is time for those of us that can, to give back to a man who has been such a huge part of our community. Believe me, Joe will beat this! He is a fighter and is still on the field coaching his daughter and her travel team, while gearing up for his second season as Estero High’s head softball coach.
