Cancer just sucks! My name is Stacy Luckett, and I am starting this gofundme account for my best friend -Jenise Sandy Blake who was diagnosed with breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma) stage 2 -grade 3 on December 9, 2015 at 5:17 p.m.
I remember as if it was yesterday when she called with tremble and fear in her voice saying that something was wrong with her breast, I held my breath for what seemed liked eternity. After she went to the doctor, she called a meeting with her immediate family and gave us the news. "I have breast cancer, and it is aggressive," she said. Like many people, when the word cancer is mentioned, I thought of death. How could my dear sweet friend be experiencing this horrible tragedy? I remember thinking that she and her daughter had just moved into their very own home and that things were going quite well for them. My friend was happy. "What was going to happen, I thought?" "How will she and her daughter survive?" "It's her daughter's senior year." Even though, she appeared to be calm and strong, I could see that she was fighting to not let the fear of the possibility of death over take her.
When she started taking chemo, it was extremely hard on her. She was weak. I remember her saying that she never knew that there could be something worse than pain. She had no words for that feeling. Most days, her twin sister Denise and other family members would have to carry her on their backs just to get her to the restroom. She could not eat. She could not drink. She could not think. However, one thing that I did notice was that no matter how bad it got, she would always say in a very small whisper, "God, I will go through it if it means you will get the glory." She never complained. Even with being unemployed since December 2015, the money was gone and the bills were due, she never complained. Even when they rolled her into the surgery room, she never complained.
Sandy and I talked a few weeks ago about how it seems as though the bill collectors just did not understand or care that she had nothing –all of her funds had been exhausted, and she would not be able to work until the end of this year. Although she has gone through surgery, she now has to go through radiation. Her family needs help!
Sandy is a wonderful minister who has always endeavored to help everybody. She will give a stranger the very shirt off of her back. She helps all, but right now, she is the one who is in need. Let's rally around her and give her our support.
No matter how large or small the donation, it will be appreciated and used to defray the necessary cost for her family to live.
Sincerely,
Stacy Luckett
