I’m Elena Einstein, in March 2023, I participated in the Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Conference (WLEC) held in Bangkok, Thailand where I met Leah Nyalobo. I had the opportunity to hear her story and how she is impacting women and girls and creating a positive change. I immediately asked her, “How can I help? What can I do, Leah?”
Leah Nyalobo runs a non-profit in Kenya to support women and girls from gender-based violence. I was so moved by her mission, that I set up a Gofundme in July 2023 for the women and girls in her community. In phase 1- we rescued 4 girls, raised the schooling fees, and enrolled them in school for 1 year. Secondly, we purchased 3 sewing machines and set up the new vocational center. Ten (10) women, including twelve (12) children have been rescued from Gender Based Violence (GVD).
I encourage to hear directly from Leah, how we have made a difference.

Now, we are launching phase 2 #GiveHope Campaign to raise funding to support the women and children who have been rescued from gender-based violence situations. Join me in helping to change the world.
Phase 2-#GiveHope Campaign
Ten (10) women have been rescued and are now in the vocational training program. Here they will learn life skills vital to help them set up their own businesses or find employment. The women have small children who are hungry and malnourished. Most of the women are HIV Positive and so are their children. We are raising funding for two meals per day for the women and the children. Additionally, we are seeking a caregiver/cook to engage the children as the mothers are in training. The total fundraising goal is $10,000 which will fund food and supplies for a year.
Breakdown:
• $546 food for ten (10) mothers and twelve (12) children per month
o $25 per month/$300 per year feeds either a child/mother
o Less than 82 cents a day
• $91 caregiver/cook per month
• $91 cooking fuel per month
• $137 sewing material per month
Total $865 per month
Total $10,380
One-time costs: $1,365 cooking items, toys for children and bedding/mattresses.

Phase 1 Accomplishments:
Through our help we raised $3,500 to rescue young girls that have been sexually assaulted and have dropped out of school due to forced child marriage by providing them safety and education. Leah returned 4 girls to school through the purchase of scholastic materials and tuitions fees. The girls are really thankful and have promised to do their best in their studies.
In addition, we partnered with Leah to purchase 3 sewing machines and materials that will enhance life skills to women rescued from gender-based violence. “The survivors had never seen such machines in their lives before. They are privileged to train and acquire tailoring skills”. This funding created a new vocational center. To my surprise, they decided to name it the Elena Einstein Vocational Center where women are able to acquire valuable skills to help them earn income for themselves and their children.
