Today, we’re asking for love and support for Krista and her girls through this enormously hard time.

Krista was diagnosed with Primary biliary cholangitis. A rare autoimmune disease that causes progressive destruction of the liver. They don’t have a cure for PBC and the rate PBC progresses is different for everyone. Sometimes, it can take decades before it interferes with daily living. In Krista’s case, she’s 36 and medical treatment is no longer controlling the disease. Today, she has end-stage liver failure and needs a life-saving liver transplant.

First, a little introduction about my bubbly friend of over 20 years. She is a born flower child raised purely on old-fashioned peace & love. The only daughter and a sister to 4 brothers. She’s a mom to 4 daughters. She is a people person by nature who has effortlessly formed so many meaningful relationships. She found her place in the world when she had Nevaeh at 19. I can say with certainty she has never wanted anything more than to be a mom. That’s what Krista does, she #moms. If you need to figure out where to sign your kid up for sports, you ask Krista. Did you need a ride to the basketball game? You can call Krista; she’ll pick you up. Because, if you know Krista at all, you know she is showing up… to everything lol. She’s a breath of fresh air who genuinely wants to make people happy. She’ll do anything to make you laugh and help you to breathe life a little lighter. I hope this gives you a better idea of not only how special my friend is, but how many people need her to get strong again.

Next, in whatever version of prayer you practice, please hold Krista and her girls in your hearts. In Krista fashion, we must keep positivity and love flowing! Words of encouragement, hugs, and embraces, bringing dinners over to families' houses, the list goes on and on about how to show your love and support.

We need help paying for Krista’s medical expenses and rehabilitation. She’ll be having surgery and recovering in Westchester. This part can take a month to several. My hope is for Krista to have her family near the hospital for the first month. It’s close to a two-hour ride and with 4 children, juggling visits and rides alone will be a challenge. Her family needs a place near the hospital they can call home for the tough part.

We need help paying for #MomLife. Krista is a mom of 4 girls, 16, 12, 8, and 2. While being a full-time mom since 19 Krista always managed to be her own boss and keep an income coming in to keep her and the girls comfortable. These last few months have been hard. Traveling sometimes to multiple appointments a week, even on her best day makes holding down a steady income near impossible. She is still waiting for a call from disability, her emergency fund has emptied, and she has a household to keep afloat and 4 kids to prepare for back to school.

And finally, as Krista begins her recovery, we need your help filling in the gaps that the loss of several months’ income will bring. Let’s make sure all her energy is focused on a successful recovery. Let’s make sure the girls can stay in dance and sports and have an as normal as possible school year. Let’s try to take away the stressors falling behind financially can bring.
