Hello friends, family and even strangers… this is a difficult and embarrassing request for me. Around Christmas in 2023, there was a freak accident and Zona fractured her femur. She had emergency surgery in Flagstaff and the surgeon wasn’t able to place a plate due to the size and severity of the fracture. So a pin was placed and bone was “wired” together. She healed quickly and was back to her normal self within 6 months. In March of this year I noticed she was not favoring that leg at all. Upon having X-rays taken, it was determined that the In needed to be removed (which I was told could be a possibility). In April, I drove her back up to Flagstaff for the Dr. to remove the pin. The removal went well and Dr. wasn’t concerned. 2 months later, she wasn’t using her keg AT ALL. She seemed depressed and in pain. Took her for more X-rays and we discovered her bone was…. Gone. Just gone. It was so traumatizing to see that image. The vet told me that her leg needs to go. If I can’t remove her leg, she will have to be put down. This dog is my baby. My best friend. My kids’ protector. She comes EVERYWHERE with us. Loves to go for rides, camping and loves to be on the boat and swim with the kids at the lake. I know my girl has lots of life left. I am asking for help because I have already invested about $8,000.00 between the previous surgeries, vet appointments and X-rays. I just need help. I don’t know if I can afford this and putting her down is not an option for me. So I am reaching out to you now because I am in need. Zona is in need. Any little bit helps and I will be eternally grateful.
