Help Zenda Build Her Own Family
Zenda was separated from her mother and herd during a violent African storm. Thankfully, she was found by Craig Busch and his team before nightfall, when predators such as jackals would almost certainly have found her first.
Too young to survive on her own, Zenda was hand-raised by the team and spent much of her early life in and around the house, becoming part of the family. As she grew, she naturally outgrew life indoors and now lives happily on the reserve, where she spends her days roaming, browsing and, as many of you will know, making sure she’s involved in everything we’re doing.
Although Zenda is surrounded by people who love her, she is the only giraffe on the reserve. Our goal is to bring two giraffes from a nearby wildlife facility so that she can form her own family—or tower, as a group of giraffes is known.
We’re raising funds to cover the transportation, veterinary checks and relocation costs, as well as preparing the reserve for their arrival. Together, they will have hundreds of acres of protected African habitat to explore, and, we hope, one day raise the next generation of giraffes.
Conservation is at the heart of everything we do. In parts of South Africa, giraffes are still legally hunted as game animals. We believe these magnificent creatures deserve a different future. By bringing these giraffes to our protected reserve, we can guarantee they will never face that fate. Instead, they will live out their lives in safety, surrounded by dedicated carers and with the opportunity to become a thriving family group.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to giving Zenda something she has been without since the day she was rescued—a family of her own.
Thank you for being part of her journey.
