My name is Lilly, and this is my dog Wednesday. She's an 8-year-old pitbull mix. Yesterday, she and I were at the park playing ball, and she took off after her ball at full speed and collapsed just a few steps in. Originally, I thought she had broken a leg. She couldn't get up and walk back to the car, and I had to carry her. I took her to the vet immediately and had them do X-rays to find out she has TWO torn cruciate ligaments, which is the equivalent to a human ACL, on both her hind legs. She is literally unable to walk right now, and I'm having to carry her up and down stairs to use the bathroom, and keeping her in bed all day, and it breaks my heart. The cost for each of these surgeries is around $2,000-$5,000 per leg. The vet suggested I at least fix her right one because it is a lot more severe than the other one, that way her other one can at least heal a bit on its own. With both of them injured, it will be nearly impossible for either one to heal.
I'm in early recovery, and am only a waitress at a restaurant and cannot afford these fees, but I love my dog with all of my heart, and she's a wonderful dog and deserves to have a good quality of life. I can't stand to watch her in so much pain and not even be able to get up and go potty, or play with her ball like she so much loves.
If you're unable to donate, please share, so I can increase my chances of being able to help her.
