On behalf of Evarist and the Rushaga Vulnerable Child Foundation, we are raising money to pay the tuition, accommodation, food and clothing for children in Rushaga, Uganda who live too remotely to attend local government schools.

Our goal of $5,000 will upgrade the hygiene and comfort of the children’s accommodation while providing more capacity to help children in need.

Individual children can be sponsored for USD$450 (AUD$700) which covers the accommodation and education for one vulnerable child for an entire year and gives them a chance for a productive and happy future.

I first met Evarist in 2024 when he portered for me on a trek to see the Rushaga gorillas in the mountains of Uganda. Evarist started the foundation to give vulnerable children the chance of an education, just as he was through a sponsor when he was a child. Evarist supports the foundation using the “spare cash” he has from the USD$20 he earns a month as a porter.
