Give Vixen a Chance to Play Pain-Free

Donation protected
Hello, all puppy dog people

I'm Noah. I am 18 years old, attempting this thing called life. I work full-time at a bakery here in Cary, NC. I live at home with my Mother and brother

My dog's name is Vixen. She is a 14-month-old shelter rescue. Vixen was placed in multiple shelters before I convinced my mother to let her join our family. My mother grew up without dogs, so it took some persuading and a little convincing. Now, they are inseparable.

Recently, Vixen has had trouble using her hind legs after waking up or after some playtime with other dogs. After some rest, it seemed this issue did not get better. I took Vixen to the vet, and X-rays were suggested. The X-rays concluded that a consultation with an orthopedic vet was the next course of action. This consultation, along with Vixen's pain meds and X-rays, totaled over $1,000. My mother, who maintains our household, has so much on her plate, and I know she makes just enough to keep us afloat. The consultation with the orthopedic surgeon has concluded that Vixen will need surgery on both knees. Vixen was diagnosed with bilateral tibial tuberosity avulsion fractures. The good news is this is 'fixable'; the bad news is the surgery can range from $5,000 to $10,000 per knee depending on the specialty hospital. With an 18-year-old's income and my mom to help out, there is still no way I can, or she can, afford these surgeries. I am asking for your help in any way possible to allow Vixen a chance to be a puppy. A chance to play as she should and not live her life on pain medication and in the house all the time.

We are fundraising to cover the costs of Vixen's medical consultations and treatments.
