Hi, my name is Jenny and I am seeking financial help for my 3 year old daughter. My daughter has the most severe case of eczema that doctor's in Central California have seen. It is so severe that she even got a blood infection (sepsis) when she was only 14 months old. She spent 2 weeks in the hospital on the strongest IV antibiotics. Shortly after her hospital stay, we learned that our daughter has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy (hazelnut). She had a severe reaction to baby peanut butter puffs where she had difficulty breathing, hives all over her body, and so much inflammation throughout her body. We immediately administered an epipen (prescribed to us since my daughter was also receiving monthly injections for her eczema) and we rushed her to the hospital to be monitored. The doctor's told us that the epipen more than likely saved her life.
So here is the reason that I am seeking financial help. My husband and I happened to meet another parent that has a child with a severe nut allergy. This parent mentioned to us that there is a food allergy institute in Irvine, California that has a 99% success rate in putting food allergies in remission. Not only does this program help put your child's food allergy into remission but it helps with eczema. Eczema is connected with food allergies, and we are hopeful that once we get our daughter's food allergy in remission that her eczema will also be gone. The only problem about the program is that it is super expensive and insurance does not cover it. The program usually runs between 2 to 4 years depending upon how severe the child's food allergy is. The first year is $15,000 and each year after is $12,500. This does not cover the costs for gas and hotel stays. The program requires us to drive to Irvine 6 to 8 times throughout each year. In addition, each appointment is a 2-day appointment. This means that we would need to stay in a hotel for each appointment.
A few months ago, I took on a second job to help put money aside for this program. I have been able to put enough away for a down payment to enroll in the program but this does not cover the first initial appointment which will do an extensive skin test panel, blood work, and etc. The first two appointments are around $5,000 on top of the deposit that I have already paid.
After doing so much research on this food allergy program and doing consultations with this facility, I am hopeful that they will be able to help and that this is the answer to our prayers. This program would not only relieve so much stress on my husband and I, but also on our 5 children. The last 3 years have been the most stressful times in our lives. My 8 year old that is very protective of my 3 year old, has cried to me countless times about the situation. My 8 year old is afraid that her younger sibling will die from accidentally eating peanuts or from another blood infection. We are very good at looking at every single food label but we still worry about an accidental contamination. This program would take away so much stress and allow my daughter to live a normal life that she deserves!
Any donations will be much appreciated. Thank you!
