Hello Everyone,
My name is Sarah, You may or may not know me, however, I am Kylie Crew's best friend.
By now you might have heard, but for those of you who haven't, it is with a very heavy heart I inform you that on Saturday, 1st June, 2024, Kylie was struck by a car. The car was travelling at an estimated 40 to 50 km/h and she is very lucky to have survived. She currently has no recollection of events and circumstances surrounding the accident are still unclear.
She was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital where she was put into an induced coma due to the swelling on her brain. Kylie sustained, a broken collar bone, broken femur, dislocated shoulder and the bones in her legs from the knees down were completely shattered. She has undergone multiple surgeries, including plastic surgery and rod implantations in her lower legs. Fortunately, there has been no injury to her brain or spine, however, she has suffered two strokes, which have resulted in left-sided paralysis.
Doctors are hopeful that she will make a full recovery after undergoing a very challenging rehabilitation process that may take 2 years or more.
Kylie has always been extremely resilient. She is by far the toughest person I know. There is no doubt in my mind that she has the strength and determination needed to bounce back from this. Kylie will need to undergo intensive rehabilitation in which she will learn how to eat, talk and walk again. It will be a very long and challenging process for all those involved. Particularly for her loving mother, Jenny, her twenty month old daughter, Indie, as well as her brother and his young family. Jenny had hoped to retire from the workforce in the not too distant future. However, as Kylie will be unable to work for some time, Jenny is left having to support not only her own cost of living expenses but for those of Kylie and Indie.
Which is why I have set up this fundraiser and am asking for your help to lower at least the financial burden of a lengthy rehabilitation process. All money raised will go towards direct medical and rehabilitation expenses along with cost of living expenses for not only Kylie but for Indie and Jenny too.
So, no matter who you are or what you do , whether you can afford a little or a lot, every dollar counts. Kylie, her family and I are so grateful and appreciate all the love and support being given during this very hard and stressful time.
Kylie is such an amazing human being who has touched the lives of so many people, near and far. It's now time to show her you're support and please make a donation. Also, please share this link with everyone, everywhere, as many times as you can to ensure we raise as much as possible.
Kylie spent the first couple of weeks of her recovery in the neuro/stroke ward at The Royal Melbourne Hospital yet has recently been transferred to begin her rehabilitation journey. She is making good progress already and is generally in good spirits. I will continue to make updates on her progress to keep you all informed.
Once again, thank you all for your love and support.
