Lisa’s Miraculous Journey of a Lifetime - The Fight to Live Again!

In June of 2023, we physically saw Lisa and witnessed her quick bounce back from surgery and positive road to recovery from cancer. Then, what Lisa and Dre thought would be a 6-month journey of chemotherapy followed by full recovery and normalcy again in their lives quickly evolved into months-long hospitalization, a Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) diagnosis, complete paralysis, aspiration pneumonia, tracheotomy, feeding tube, several code blue events, and one instance of full cardiac arrest with no pulse for over 10 minutes. Her husband, Dre, was told by the doctors to prepare for the end of life for Lisa as she would not make it home. Nevertheless, the King had another move and again he multiplied miracles. Now, 681 days into the fight to live, Lisa may soon be released from the hospital to a rehabilitation facility to begin the journey of living again. In fact, after spending 494 days on a ventilator, God has miraculously graced Lisa to spend more than 36 hours liberated from the ventilator.

The Opponent: Cancer VS Lisa G - A Woman's Relentless Fight for Life
Lisa keeps showing up in the ring to fight her way back to her life, family, and community. The only problem is after 494 days of dependency on a ventilator, you need help getting in the ring, putting on the gloves, working to regain strength, and being taught how to even throw a punch. Lisa needs an advocate, speech therapist, physical therapist, trainer, coach, caregiver, medical team, and support. Lisa needs more multiplied miracles…because there will be times when she will experience the knockout, the countdown, and with your help and support she can fight to get up and stay up–which means surviving the journey to regain her mobility.

What Will The Journey Cost?
The family has exhausted all savings and retirement accounts in this miraculous fight against cancer to live. With mounting medical bills and costs for hospital stays, specialty doctors, ambulatory services, transportation, medical equipment, rehabilitation, therapy, private nursing/in-home medical care, medical supplies, and equipment, Lisa and Dre need our help. In fact, the family has already incurred 88K in medical bills and is expected to spend another 66K or more in the fight for Lisa to fully recover and experience rehabilitation within an open and unlimited timeline.

Why Give?
If you have never had to experience something like this with a loved one, you may not be aware of how crucially important it is to have an advocate & caregiver present at all times during the long hospital and rehabilitation stays, as there are so many decisions and needs beyond what the medical teams in the medical facilities can provide. Dre has been that for Lisa in her lifetime and on this journey. He has had to sacrifice his career, experiencing loss of income, appetite, and quality of life. Although as high school sweethearts, for 40 years the two have been together and are best friends who truly have become one in marriage. The truth is, the last time I saw Lisa and Dre in June of 2023, it was at their Strength In Marriage Retreat titled “Journey of a Lifetime.” Little did they know that they were just beginning, “A Fight To Live - Lisa’s Miraculous Journey of a Lifetime.”
