Update on Timber
First, we want to thank every single person who has donated, shared, reached out, or kept Timber in your thoughts. Your love and support have meant more to us than we can ever put into words.
We originally asked for help with Timber’s surgery and were intentionally vague at the time while we waited for more information. We now want to share a clearer update on what’s been happening.
In November, we noticed a small lump in Timber’s lower left mammary gland. By December, it had grown rapidly to about the size of a baseball. The mass was very hard, but she didn’t seem uncomfortable, so we brought her to our regular vet in early January to have it checked. At that visit, we were told the mass would need to be surgically removed, with an estimated cost of $5,000–$7,000. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the resources to perform full diagnostics or the surgery themselves and recommended we see a specialist.
The very next day, we took Timber to BluePearl in Olympia. The team there was incredibly kind, compassionate, and thorough. After a full exam, they came back with heartbreaking news: Timber has an inoperable mammary tumor. They explained that surgery would not be successful because they wouldn’t be able to get clean margins, and the cancer is aggressive and already spreading. They identified additional lumps and could see that the tumor has begun spreading to her right side and down her left leg. We were told that, realistically, we likely have only a few good weeks left with her.
BluePearl sent us home with pain medication and provided recommendations for in-home euthanasia services when the time comes. For the first week after her diagnosis, Timber was managing fairly well on the medication, but her condition has since progressed quickly, and not in a positive way.
While this is not the outcome we hoped for, we are focused on keeping Timber as comfortable, peaceful, and loved as possible for the rest of her time with us. All donations will now go toward her pain management, comfort care, and end-of-life services, so she can pass with dignity, at home, surrounded by love.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of Timber’s journey and for supporting us during this incredibly difficult time. We are so grateful.

Hi everyone,
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write, but I’m reaching out with love and hope for our sweet dog, Timber. Timber has been such a loyal, gentle, and loving part of our family, and right now she needs our help.
Timber will need an upcoming surgery that is necessary for her health and comfort, and the cost is more than we can manage on our own. We’re doing everything we can to give her the care she deserves, but we can’t do it without support.
If you know Timber, you know how much joy she brings to everyone she meets. Her cheesy smile, her wagging tail, her comforting presence, and the unconditional love she gives every single day. All we want is to give her the chance to heal and continue living a happy, pain-free life.
Any donation, no matter the amount, truly helps and means more than we can express. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping Timber in your thoughts is just as appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and love during this difficult time. We are endlessly grateful.
With love,
Kyle & Vanessa
