Give Thomas Mills III a Proper Farewell

My father, Thomas Mills III passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56. After having a stroke, he was treated and sent home from the ER with instruction not to continue his diabetes medication as it may have led to his stroke. Another change to his medications were made but none to replace medication for preventative risk medications for his diabetic condition. They also reported dementia but sent him home, alone.

Diabetics cannot stop preventive medicines without a different medication being prescribed, either insulin or pill, without a morbid risk.

We believe the hospital was negligent in their care with sending him home. Rushing him out without proper care which led to his death days later.

His brother found him deceased in his apartment. Once the coroner arrived he suggested it was a natural cause of death without investigation and did not recommend he be taken to the hospital morgue to confirm. Although a review from the medical examiner would have given the time and reason of death, all which would be covered by medical coverage.

We’d like the opportunity to find the true cause of death and to bury my father with dignity.

The family has recently learned that he did not have any life insurance and would at the very least ask donation for burial expenses. We all know how expensive funeral are, so the family, and I asking for help in finding the cause and to provide a modest celebration of life.

Thomas’ funeral will be held Dec 13th at Albina Church of God in Portland, Oregon. The viewing will be at 11 am followed by the service at 12 pm.
