Help Us Build West Texas’ First Cruelty-Case Dog Sanctuary
Serving the El Paso community since 2017, Law N Paws is a one-of-a-kind animal rescue founded by El Paso Police Detective Vanessa Acosta. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’ve rescued over 500animals who’ve survived severe cruelty and neglect throughout our region.
But now, our mission is in jeopardy.
Due to rising lease costs and new county construction plans, our current shelter is no longer a sustainable or safe place for our rescues. We’ve been given a deadline of June 30th to vacate—and with over 75 dogs in our care, the clock is ticking.
We’ve taken the first step toward a better future: thanks to family support, we’ve secured land to finally build the first cruelty-case sanctuary in West Texas.
But just as we began preparing to relocate, El Paso County broke ground on a new linear park — and a 6-foot wall is being built that will cut off the only entrance to our shelter. The county has suggested we “just use the corner,” but no viable access exists. This is a major fire and safety hazard, and we’re now racing against time to relocate.

We’re seeking to raise $500,000 to complete Stage One of development at our new sanctuary site, which includes:
✅ Laying underground utilities and foundation
✅ Building two metal structures ($116,000 each) to house 100+ dogs
✅ Installing fencing, plumbing, electrical, and safe kennel spaces
Unlike city-run shelters, we receive no city, state, or government funding. We operate entirely through medical grants and the kindness of donors like you.
These dogs have survived abuse, starvation, abandonment—and now they face losing their only safe place. Together, we can change that.
Please help us build the sanctuary they deserve.
Let’s raise a paw—and raise the walls of their forever home.
