Help the Goates Family Financially Recover

Hi, my name is Sarah and after many people offered, I am making a GoFundMe for Rob and Vienna Goates.

 

In 2019, the Goates were chosen to be on Andy and Candis Meredith's new show "Home Work" which was being developed by Chip and Joanna Gaines' new Magnolia Network. The Goates live in a beautiful historic home. They love their home, but had always dreamt of increasing the functionality of it while preserving its historical integrity. They saved money, hired an an architect to make plans and the future of their home seemed promising. They met with Candis Meredith and the producers of the show on October 9th, 2019.

 

Candis and Andy took a deposit of 50k from the Goates and never started production. At first the delays were because of the pandemic, but it eventually became clear that the Merediths had no concrete plan to renovate their home. In May 2020, Rob was laid off. After they wrote to inform Candis of this and asked for their deposit back, she convinced Rob and Vienna to stay with the project because she claimed Joanna Gaines had a special interest in their renovation. After several months of little communication and growing unease, Rob and Vienna officially asked to be dropped from the show and get their deposit back. That was October 2020 and they haven't been paid back. They have tried everything legally they can to get paid. The court ruled a judgement in their favor. The Merediths continue to dodge, evade, and let payments lapse.

 

About 2 days ago, other stories about "Home Work" began to go viral. The show was quickly canceled. As justified as that was, now Rob and Vienna are sure that without that show, the Merediths will never pay them anything else. There has been no accountability from them or from the network. The Gaines are silent and Magnolia Network says it doesn't see a reason to be involved.

 

The Goates did nothing wrong. They tried every way they could to be cordial, to work things out within the legal system, and to just be good people. In return, they have been given two years of distress and financial disaster, all while watching the people who defrauded them be featured in People Magazine.

 

Rob and Vienna have five kids (their latest was born 3 weeks ago) and all they ever wanted was another bathroom. While they have accepted that is probably not in their future anytime soon, I figured people could give them the chance to show they care. All of the donations will go directly to them.
