My mom, Susan Purnell, is in need of assistance for a new AC unit. The last several years after my stepfather passed away in 2020 has been a challenge for my mom. During that time she had a severely broken arm and ruptured tendon and was unable to work. She had been hard working her entire life, but this was a time in which I needed to step in to help, which I did and continue to do for her. Shortly after she healed she became gravely sick with heart failure and a case of Flu A that sent her into a forward spiral of respiratory failure and home now consisted of oxygen use 100 percent of the time. I will not put my mom in any type of facility, as she is happiest in her own home and when she cannot be there I would hope she will be with me. But for now, she is able to be where she is happiest; however the transition and work to allow her to safely continue on her own has been both mentally and financially challenging for me and my family. Her health can no long withstand the exterior air or the potential for mold growth while using window air conditioner units. I had the exterior unit evaluated (it had not work for a decade) and it cannot be fixed. The cost of a new unit is $5900.00 and I wanted to try to raise some funds to help her attain this goal without her insisting that she will go without. I am, and will continue, to give her the best quality of life that I can provide. I am hoping with the help of my friends and family I can raise some of the money to give her this gift.
