Hi, I’m Steph.

This isn’t easy to write. I’ve always tried to figure things out, keep moving forward, and handle life on my own. But after a series of setbacks, I’ve hit a point where I need help to stay afloat.

I lost my job back in April of 2024. I had been in that role for almost 15 years. It wasn’t just a job. It was a role I had poured a huge part of my life into. When that door closed, I knew I had to pivot. While on unemployment, I enrolled in data analyst training and began building new skills to transition into a more sustainable career path.

I’ve been applying to jobs ever since, but breaking back into the workforce has been harder than I imagined. Especially in a new field, and at 60 years old, I do not think employers are lining up to hire someone like me, no matter how ready I am to show up, learn, and work hard.

I’m also working toward finishing my associate’s degree, but I’ll be honest. I’m scared. I worry that my most profitable days are behind me, even though I know I still have a lot to offer.

In the meantime, I’ve done everything I can to generate income. I’ve signed up for food delivery apps. I’m delivering pizzas. I’ve held onto a small part-time job. I’m doing everything I can think of, but it’s still not enough to cover basic living expenses. And I know I’m not the only one struggling. Everyone is going through something right now. I do not think I am special. I just need a little help to get through this stretch.

What I’m asking for is support to stay housed and stable through the end of the year. That includes rent, utilities, and a little bit for my pets. My dog Lola and my cat Oscar are family, and caring for them helps keep me grounded.

⸻

How the funds will be used:
• Rent from August through November: $6,758
• Utilities (water, electric, gas, garbage, internet, gas for my car): $1,813
• Pet food and supplies: $300
• Total Goal: $8,871 (rounded up to $9,000 to allow for small emergencies)

This is not about comfort. It is about keeping a roof over my head, keeping the lights on, and making sure my two animal companions stay fed and safe while I keep pushing forward.

Moving in with my partner is not an option right now. Things are complicated, and sometimes life just does not allow for simple solutions.

I have not given up. I still believe something good is coming. I just need a little help getting from here to there. If you are able to donate, or even just share this with others, I would be deeply grateful. Every bit of support helps.

With love and thanks,
Steph
