SMOKEY IS STILL FIGHTING & heading back to the ER‼️ 

Thrown from a moving car, rescued & now fighting for her life again.

Hi, my name is Rachael and I’m raising funds for Smokey, the bravest little kitten you’ll ever meet.

I rescued Smokey after witnessing her being thrown from a moving vehicle on I-77 in Charlotte NC. She was just a tiny baby with a broken jaw, but from the moment I held her, I knew she wanted to live. Against all odds, she recovered beautifully. She was eating liquids, purring constantly, playing, and cuddling every chance she got. She had a follow up vet appointment and bloodwork scheduled for this Monday, but the night before her check-up, something went horribly and suddenly wrong.

Smokey out of nowhere went limp and refused all food. I rushed her to the ER, where they discovered she had severe hyponatremia, (critically low sodium) a condition that can be life-threatening. Due to her small size, they could only do minimal blood work, but the most likely explanation is that her kidneys were injured during her original trauma and have been silently leaking toxins into her body over the past two weeks.

After just 12 hours of emergency IV fluids, I had to make the painful decision to discharge her because the cost was already overwhelming and at the time, she didn’t seem likely to survive. But Smokey is a fighter.

Since coming home, I’ve been caring for her around the clock:

• Syringe feeding her every few hours

• Keeping her warm and clean

• Monitoring every breath

• And most importantly, holding her through every moment of this fight

And despite everything, she’s still trying. She’s responding to love, swallowing tiny amounts of food, and refusing to give up.

Her story has captured the hearts of over half a million people on TikTok, and I know in my heart it’s not over yet.

But now, she urgently needs:

• More blood work and testing

• Another round of IV fluids

• Possible hospitalization to stabilize her fully

This care could save her life, but I can’t afford to cover it alone. That’s why I’m turning to animal lovers everywhere to ask for help giving Smokey the second chance she’s fighting so hard for.
