Give Skye a Chance at a Healthy Life

Donation protected
Meet Skye. She came to me 3 weeks after I lost my husky/malamute mix, Nevaeh and if you knew us, you’d know we were inseparable. I still think my Nevaeh sent her to me. From the get go we have battled health issue after health issue from Parvo, to Coccidia, to UTI’s and now our local vet wants us to go to Cornell for Skye to have surgery as he thinks she has a Ectopic Uterer. Her paperwork showed when she was vetted by her “breeder” that she had a mild case of Vaginitis but we were assured it was nothing to worry about. Fast forward to now, when she goes potty, she has strings of urine just hanging after she’s done (it looks like spaghetti noodles) our vet treated her for a UTI thinking it should have gotten better. Unfortunately, it hasn’t. We were quoted $1,200 for Cornell to look at and diagnose Skye with this BEFORE they even do anything surgical wise. IF this is what she does have (and Dr. Coleman thinks it is) we are looking at an $8,000 surgery plus overnight stay cost and the medication afterwards which is not included. The $8,000 is strictly the cost of her surgery alone. This does not include her spay which I assume they would also do. After medical bill after medical bill over the past few months in trying to figure this out, I do not have $9,000 I can just pull out of my hat. The only good news is I have until April to come up with some of it for them to consult with us, run bloodwork, do an ultrasound and whatever else. I’m trying to get Skye on health insurance but even with that..there is a certain amount within that year I can’t go over. I’d bring this up to her “breeder” but I will NOT take the chance of her taking her back just to euthanize her because she doesn’t want to pay the cost. The fact that I’m even in this position right now after just losing my soul dog 3 months ago is disheartening in itself to add to the grief. I hate doing fundraisers. I just have to give Skye a chance and my hands are tied so I’m solely relying on the help of my community, friends and family. Everything will directly go into Skye’s bank account specifically set up for Cornell funds and her surgery. Thank you for reading this far and helping us out. Your support means the world.
