Give Sissonne a Second Chance

Hello. My name is Lee Newman and I'm an aspiring writer. I've worked on a children's book, a novel, and several comic books.

Nearly four years ago, I was given the chance to write my dream comic. It had humor, heart, great art, and an incredible creative team behind it. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with. Out of an amazingly talented pool of creators, Sissonne was born.

There was just one thing. The book was what is commonly known as work for hire. This means that while I definitely had a stake in the book, the rights to production were owned by a client. In this case, the client was a friend and a stand-up guy; Brian Cole. Brian had the initial idea that I eventually nurtured and wrote into Sissonne.

The intent was always to have the story be three issues long. However, we fell short of our Kickstarter goal and everyone moved on to other projects, despite us all feeling like Sissonne had something special.

Fast forward to today. Brian has been kind enough to afford me the incredibly rare opportunity to purchase the rights to the book, attempt a relaunch, and hopefully fuel enough interest and funds to finish the three-issue micro-series.

His request is modest and reasonable. Comics are expensive to produce and I simply need enough money raised to put a little of what he invested in the comic back into his pocket. I will then be free to crowdfund a second printing and hopefully get the band back together for issues two and three. I just need a little help.

That's where you folks come in. If I could just get a small donation to assist in securing the publishing rights, I'm willing to take the rest of the risk of trying to finish and promote the series.
