Please help us give Sidra Omar a chance at life!!

As-salamu Alaykum brothers and sisters, firstly May Allah SWT bless you all for taking the time to read this. I hope everyone is in the best of health and Imaan and staying safe during this very challenging time.


I have set up this Go fund me page to help a 21-month-old sweet little girl named Sidra Omar who is currently fighting for her life. Sidra has been diagnosed with Gaucher disease, Type 1.

For those who may not be very familiar with Guacher disease like myself, it is a very rare disorder that affects many of the body's organs and tissues. The enzyme that normally breaks down fatty substances into a simpler fat molecule doesn’t function and so there is a build up of toxic substances within the cells. As a result of this terrible disease, the organ functionality is affected, tissues are damaged by the abnormal accumulation and storage of toxic substances, eventually leading to the characteristic features which are an enlargement of the liver and spleen.


Sidra, originally from Somalia is currently with her mother in Turkey for medical treatment only, she has been given a shot at life with a very costly treatment called ‘Enzyme Replacement Therapy’ (ERT) which activates the enzyme needed to stay alive.


Very sadly, Sidra’s older sister passed away from the exact same condition just under two years ago… unfortunately she was diagnosed too late and was unable to get medical treatment in Somalia.


I cannot imagine what this mother is going through Subhan Allah, May Allah SWT ease her pain and give her daughter everlasting health. The possibility of losing another child over the same disease and this time due to lack of funds is heart-breaking and so I decided to take it upon myself to set this page up and lean into all of you for some support.


For some context, the treatment costs £2,500 per month (not including living costs) in Turkey. Doctors in Turkey have confirmed this is the only treatment that will keep her alive and of course by the will of Allah (SWT).  Sidra will be given biweekly ERT we are unsure exactly how long this treatment is needed but a minimum of 5 years is highly likely due to her condition, so please let’s all try our best and help fund her treatment for the full 5 years costing up to £150,000.
