Shelly needs hearing aids! Shelly started losing her hearing at 18. She has nerve deafness that has progressively gotten worse through the years. She has lost at least 80% of her hearing. She keeps her grandkids often, and she has the worst time hearing them and understanding them. Shelly has tried the cheaper hearing aids, but her hearing is too far gone for those to work. The doctors said that the only ones that will work for her are the ones that go in her ear and around the back of her ear. Those hearing aids cost $6500, and her insurance only pays $1000 of that. Shelly is on disability and has put off getting hearing aids because she can't afford them. It's a shame that we can get glasses covered through insurance, but hearing isn't covered.
