Help Us Give Our Daughter Seviyn a Fighting Chance
My name is Breonna, and I am a birthing doula. My husband and I were overjoyed to finally be expecting our own baby after years of supporting other families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
On October 30, 2024, during our very first ultrasound, our joy was met with heartbreak. We learned our baby girl, Seviyn, had a rare condition called Heterotaxy, where her organs are not in their correct places. Her stomach was on the wrong side of her body. The doctors assured us that this was “fixable,” so we held onto hope.
As the pregnancy progressed, so did the complexity of her condition. We were later told that her heart was missing a ventricle—a life-threatening defect. At 26 weeks, we were offered termination. But I couldn’t do it. She was still moving, thriving, and had a chance at surviving with surgery. I chose to fight for her life and trust God with the outcome.
Unfortunately, I developed complications of my own. I was diagnosed with Placenta Previa and later Accreta, which required an early delivery and a hysterectomy to save my life. On April 14, 2025, at 36 weeks, I underwent a 6.5-hour surgery that included a cesarean, cystoscopy, and hysterectomy.
Our daughter, Seviyn, was born and initially stable. But days later, we were told our current hospital can no longer perform the life-saving heart surgery she needs. Our only options are palliative care or transferring to a hospital in New York, if they accept her case.
We are choosing to fight for her. But we need help.
I’ve been out of work due to this high-risk pregnancy. My husband has been carrying us financially, and now we’re facing tremendous expenses we simply cannot meet alone.
We’re asking for your help to raise $20,000 to give our daughter a chance at life:
• $5,000 to cover my husband’s unpaid leave from work so he can be by our side
• $5,000 for travel, hotel stays, meals, and childcare for our other children
• $10,000 for medical expenses not covered by insurance
This is our last chance at having a baby. I am heartbroken. A week ago, she was kicking inside me. Now she’s on a ventilator, paralyzed, and fighting to live.
If you find it in your heart to support our family during this unimaginable time, we would be forever grateful. Any amount helps. Thank you for your prayers, love, and generosity.
With love,
Breonna & Family
