Give Sara the Freedom to Live Fully: Help Raise $ for a Van!

Sara Bennett is a 38-year-old mother of two living with ALS. She was diagnosed at age 36 after a year of having symptoms. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. There is no cure for this fatal disease and most people live 2-5 years after diagnosis. Since her onset of symptoms, Sara is only able to walk 10-15 steps without substantial physical support. Her voice has become extremely weak, and she has trouble enunciating. She is fully dependent on someone else to assist with activities of daily living.

Sara is currently in need of a side loading automatic van for transportation. Without this vehicle, she is contained to her home and not able to experience life fully and in the way she wants. It is so important to her and her family that she is still able to go to her kids’ games, family events, doctors appointments, etc. Getting in and out of vehicles is becoming increasingly challenging. The side loading automatic van will help alleviate her fall risk and eliminate the physical and mental toll getting into cars has become for her. This is a huge expense for her family. Please consider a donation to help Sara live life and be as mobile as she can for as long as possible. Right now, the family has enough for about half of the van, but we need to raise the rest of the funds through this platform. We’ve looked into used options, but right now at this stage, Sara requires something more customized.
