Anyone who knows me knows Sagan. He’s not just my dog — he’s been my best friend, my shadow, and my constant source of love and joy for the past 7 years. We’ve shared everything together, and I honestly can’t imagine life without him by my side.
A few months ago, I started noticing little changes — Sagan stumbling, dragging his back paws, struggling to get up. At first, I hoped it was something minor, maybe hip dysplasia. But after taking him to the vet a few weeks ago, I got the heartbreaking news: Sagan has Degenerative Myelopathy.
For those who don’t know, Degenerative Myelopathy is a progressive and incurable disease, often compared to ALS in humans. It slowly takes away a dog’s ability to walk, then to stand, and eventually, even the simplest movements. Right now, Sagan already has trouble with his balance and coordination, and I can see the frustration in his eyes when his body doesn’t cooperate with his spirit.
I’ve been holding onto hope that the symptoms wouldn’t move so quickly, but reality is setting in. My focus now is on giving him the best possible quality of life for whatever time we still have together. That means extra vet visits, physical therapy, and supportive care to help keep him comfortable and happy.
It’s hard for me to ask for help, but this is for Sagan — my sweet boy who has given me nothing but unconditional love. I’ve started this fundraiser to help cover the ongoing costs of his care as we navigate this devastating disease. Anything you’re able to give will go directly toward making sure Sagan’s days are filled with comfort, dignity, and love.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting us during this painful and uncertain time.
