Sadie says hello! She is a happy and sassy 2-year-old! At birth, she was in the NICU for a total of 35 days between Mission and Charlotte. At 4 months old, she was diagnosed with spastic quad cerebral palsy (it affects all limbs of the body). She suffered from a severe lack of oxygen, which resulted in moderate to severe brain damage. She cannot sit, talk, walk, crawl, or feed herself. She currently gets PT, OT, and speech therapy once a week, which has been wonderful for her, BUT we heard about stem cell treatments and I started researching. The stem cell treatment could potentially improve Sadie's day-to-day activities such as she would be able to use her hands properly so she could feed herself, it could help her learn to talk, it could help her crawl to eventually walk! It's all good things I've heard. They do the treatments at a lot of facilities, but Duke University does it and she would be monitored before and after. The downfall is that it isn't cheap, a treatment is $15,000 along with travel expenses depending on which Duke Medical Center we would have to go to. As a parent, you want your children happy and healthy, and I'm trying my best to give Sadie the most normal life that I can for her. If this treatment works, it would be life-changing for her! Stem cell therapy is basically they put "good" cells in to replace the bad cells that no longer work. It's not a surgery; it's just an infusion. But most of all, Sadie would love each and every one that came across this story to pray for her ❤️ There's power in prayer.
