Help Rupert Recover from Surgery After Dog Attack
Donation protected
Rupert has been a part of our family for 14 years now. He’s been around for a long time and up until about a week ago he was a happy healthy and lively boy! We left him with a dog sitter over the Thanksgiving holiday, and according to the sitter, while out for a walk a large stray dog attacked Rupert completely unprovoked. The injuries were very severe, and although Rupert was rushed to the vet, his wounds became infected, and the infection would not improve. This left us with the very tough decision to have Rupert undergo a costly surgery or allow him to spend his last few days at home and eventually say our last goodbye. Initially, we thought the humane thing to do would be to have him put down. After all, Rupert was not eating and drinking and would barely move. HOWEVER! After days of vet care and new antibiotics, he began to show that he still had a lot of fight left in him. He's begun eating better and walking and moving more. We just don't feel like putting him down would be the humane thing to do anymore! He's a tough old guy and really seems like he can pull through with the surgery!
Any help would be greatly appreciated ❤️!
