My brother, Ruben Jr. Garcia, passed away yesterday at the age of 32
He battled mental illness and serious health conditions for over 15 years, but he was so much more than his struggles. He was deeply loved by our parents my daughters, his stepfather, and our grandmother by his side. He’s now reunited with our little sister, Ruby Garcia, who we lost too soon—and that brings us a small sense of peace in the middle of all this pain.
Ruben found comfort in music—especially Stevie B, Bob Marley, and oldies. He loved teddy bears and had a sweet bond with his cat, “Cat,” who never left his side.
Because of the medications he was on and his long-term health issues, we weren’t able to get life insurance for him. His passing was sudden, and we’re now trying to give him the peaceful, loving goodbye he deserves.
We’re raising funds to help cover funeral and memorial costs. Any support—whether through a donation or by sharing this—means so much to our family.
Mental health is real. Please check in on your loved ones.
