Hello I'm Reymond Fajardo, and I am a Cancer Patient. In October of 2017, while living in California, I was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a rare type of blood cancer. My doctor said I had three years left, but my will to live helped me; that's why I'm still living up to now. Since I had no insurance at that time, I couldn't get the medical treatment I needed. My family then suggested that we move to Las Vegas so that they could take care of me since my son lives there, so he wouldn't need to travel back and forth just to check on me.
When we moved to Las Vegas, I was able to find a job as a housekeeper in the Venetian Resort, which provided medical and dental insurance to their employees. Because of that, I was able to look for an oncologist to help in my treatment. I was prescribed medications for my disease, but my condition was getting worse, so my doctor then referred me to a specialist at USC Norris in California, who suggested that I should undergo a bone marrow transplant. This is the only treatment to help cure my medical condition, but the procedure requires a donor, which takes time to find. I agreed to have this procedure because I would like to have another chance at life.
While waiting for this to happen, I experienced many unforeseen events in which I had to be hospitalized many times, which also delayed my bone marrow transplant. In June of 2025, I was called by a nurse in California informing me that they now have a donor. Prior to my treatment, I have to undergo a series of radiation for my spleen, which would require me to stay in California for two weeks before the transplant, and that is an outpatient procedure. I was able to contact the American Cancer Society, and they helped me with my lodging. My transplant doctor said that due to my age of 65 years old, I would be staying in the hospital for about five to six weeks while being treated. Once I'm discharged, I would need to go back to the hospital for about two to three days a week for monitoring and treatment, which would take an additional two months' stay in California.
That is why I'm creating this GoFundMe fundraiser to help me afford a place to stay while I recover for 60 days before I go back to my home in Las Vegas. I hope that my story will touch your hearts. I thank you in advance for the help you will extend to me and my family. God bless.
