Give PJ a Chance to Rebuild His Life
Donation protected
Our beloved PJ, whose infectious smile, hearty laugh, and endless jokes make everyone around him burst with joy, vanished for a day and a half after a devastating motorcycle accident, leaving me, his girlfriend, frantically searching. I found him in the ICU, tracked down through Google articles about motorcycle crashes, clinging to life when doctors doubted he’d survive. A van recklessly turned left in front of him, sending him flying over the handlebars and crashing into its side. Though his helmet saved his life, the impact caused a traumatic brain injury, robbing him of clarity and leaving him lost in confusion, a temporal skull fracture, and multiple other fractures—nasal, septal, sphenoid, zygomatic, one sinus cavity, mandibular, temporomandibular, right scapula, and right clavicle. These fractures, while non-surgical and expected to heal on their own, leave him unable to move his right arm at all. His right thumb was shattered, rebuilt with pins that will remain for six to eight months, and the accident also fractured his cervical vertebrae, requiring doctors to fuse C5, C6, and C7 and open his spinal canal to relieve compression, which led to paralysis in his hands. The paralysis steals his independence—he can’t feed himself, shower, open doors, or manage basic daily tasks we take for granted. Yet, PJ’s spirit shines through; he shuffles unsteadily but bravely, determined to walk again. Unable to work, with disability benefits months away, he’s pouring his heart into inpatient rehab, enduring grueling physical therapy three times a day to regain hand mobility and nerve function. He’s already shown glimmers of hope, and with continued inpatient and outpatient rehab, doctors believe he has a strong chance to return to the PJ we know and love—but without it, his recovery could slip away forever. We’re raising $50,000 to cover crushing medical bills, vital rehab costs, and daily living expenses to give PJ the chance to heal without worry. Every dollar restores a piece of his independence. If you can’t donate, please share this GoFundMe to rally support for PJ’s journey back to himself. Thank you for wrapping him in your love and generosity.
With endless gratitude,
