My name is Stacy. In August, our family went to a small-town rodeo, and we ended up going home with this sweet pig. We really had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We quickly fell in love with her. We named her Penelope. The first thing we were told by the family that donated her was that we were going to need to find someone to “finish” her in 4 months. Well, that was never our plan, but being that we live on a city lot, we can’t keep her here forever. She’s going to be a very big girl once she’s full-grown. She will be anywhere from 550-700 lbs. Penelope has stolen the hearts of so many people. She has attracted more people to our backyard than ever before! So many smiles. I owe it to her to give her the best life possible. I have found a sanctuary that will take her in, but in order for that to happen, she needs a certified vet appointment and she needs to be spayed. Pigs get very moody when they are in heat, and they are at risk of ovarian cancer. If she goes to this sanctuary, we will be able to see her whenever we want, and it’s open to the public, and they host events to attract people to come and hang out. I cannot imagine not ever seeing her again, so this is the perfect solution. I believe for one person this is a lot, but if we come together as a community, we can provide her with the best life possible!
