Help Peggy Get the Surgery She Needs
Donation protected
My name is Jess, and most of you know me as a foster for Cincinnati Animal CARE. My first foster from CARE turned out to be my soul dog, Peggy. When she came home with me, it was apparent that her previous life was not kind to her. She was 7 years old and still lactating, with cage sores all over her body. Peggy has been a huge part of my fostering journey since I fostered and adopted her in 2021, and she's graciously allowed me to foster many other dogs & cats for the past 3 years.
(The first day we brought her home for foster. I think I knew at that moment she was the love of my life.)
Peggy was diagnosed earlier this year with torn CCLs in both legs. Back in July, we had a consult at Grady Hospital with Dr. Ward, and he recommended a surgical procedure called a TPLO to fix the issue.
It was really important to us to weigh all of our options before moving forward with the TPLO, especially considering that she is 10 years old and lower energy/isn't very active. We hoped we could manage the symptoms without jumping into surgery and up until this point we thought we had done a good job by limiting her activity and giving her pain medicine.
Unfortunately, her right hind leg gave out on the morning of 11/12, and now she is struggling to walk and not bearing weight on that leg. Her left leg is not stable enough to bear the additional weight and compensate for the right leg.
Surgery is now our only option for a better quality of life.
Any donations will go towards her surgery, which is quoted to be about 7.5K at Grady Hospital. This is a quote to fix both of her legs at the same time, which was the surgeon's recommendation since both legs are very unstable. Anything donated (even if it's just a few bucks) will help us immensely.
Peggy says "thank you for helping me get back on my feet." ❤️
