Give Pebbles a Second Chance at Life
Donation protected
Hey everybody, my name is Cathy and I'm launching this GoFundMe for my nephew Billy and his dog Pebbles.
A year and a half ago, Billy adopted Pebbles through the medical foster program at Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, Arizona. A true underdog, Pebbles didn't let her heart murmur or hampered function of her rear legs stop her from bonding totally and completely with Billy.
This past Monday, Pebbles fell and injured her leg. The emergency vet x-rays revealed multiple compound fractures of her right tibia and fibula. One option was surgery, which involved resetting the bones and stabilizing the leg with a plate. However, given her heart murmur and the anesthesia/recovery time/possibility of additional issues, we determined amputation to be the best next step.
That said, Billy isn't in a position financially to fund the surgery. As such, it is with humility that we've launched this fundraising effort, setting our goal at $3000. Part will cover this week's $900 emergency vet bill, part will cover the amputation procedure (expected to be ~$1,500), and part will cover meds and follow-up care. Any remaining funds will be paid forward to other folks who find themselves in a similar situation.
Tons of gratitude to those of you who can donate. If you've had the honor of meeting Billy and Pebbles, you know they are a special pair. Thank you for giving Pebbles a second chance.
