Help Paesh Walk Without Pain After a Traumatic Leg Injury
My sweetest Paesh Baby needs help. I saw Paesh be born on 10/01/2019 — she was one of four in a litter to her mother, who is also one of my pets. She grew up alongside her brother littermate, and because she was a COVID puppy, our bond became incredibly strong while we were home together during that time. She follows me everywhere like a little long-haired shadow. Rarely is she not by my side or watching me from across the room. I am her person, and not being able to fix this for her is breaking my heart.
Paesh recently suffered a traumatic dislocation of her right tarsal joint (heel/hock) in her back leg. It’s a serious orthopedic injury that makes normal walking impossible and will cause long-term damage without surgery. While I am struggling financially, I’m doing everything I can — which has led me here, asking for help on her behalf.
What makes this especially hard is that Paesh is still trying to be herself. She is a perfectly healthy, very active dog. She may be small, but she loves hiking, long walks, and running whenever she gets the chance. She seems outwardly unfazed, but dogs are incredibly good at hiding pain, and an injury like this simply isn’t painless. Right now, she’s being supported with a splint, pain medication, and anxiety meds while we wait for urgent orthopedic surgery.
Living permanently in a brace or amputating her leg due to cost would greatly affect her quality of life and put additional strain on the rest of her body as she ages. The recommended procedure is a specialist tarsal arthrodesis, which would stabilize her joint and give her the chance to walk without pain again. With surgery (expected date 2/5/26) and proper recovery, her veterinarian is hopeful she can return to a good quality of life.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Donations will help cover the urgent and ongoing care Paesh needs while she waits for surgery, as well as the procedure itself and her recovery afterward, including:
• Ongoing splinting and bandage care, including four required bandage changes at $107.60 each ($430.40 total)
• An outstanding emergency veterinary balance and consultation visit totaling $1,451.89
• Orthopedic surgery (tarsal arthrodesis) estimated between $5,002–$5,087
• Medications to keep her comfortable and stable during recovery, including four medication refills at $82.07 each ($328.28 total)
When all costs are combined — from emergency care and ongoing bandage changes to medications and surgery — Paesh’s medical expenses are estimated to be just over $7,200, and this fundraiser will help ensure she gets the care she needs without delay. Every dollar raised will go directly toward her medical care, and I am committed to being transparent and sharing updates as she moves through surgery and recovery.
How You Can Help
Any donation — no matter the amount — will go directly toward Paesh’s surgery, pain management, and recovery. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser truly helps.
Thank you for caring about Paesh and for helping me give her the chance to heal and live without pain.
