Give our family a bathroom

Donation protected
Hi I'm Kay and I am fundraising to replace our leaking mouldy bathroom. We moved into our home 3 years ago and we knew it needed a lot of work, we had inherited a sum of money from my husbands farther dying and we needed to move anyway for work so we got a house within our budget and tried to make it our home. over the next couple of years we have tried to get the house to a liveable state but found that issues that we had not anticipated kept cropping up such as dangerous wiring needing to be replaced, our dog needing lifelong medications, my car breaking down etc and our money ran out quickly.

A bit about us
We have been married for 13 years and we a very lucky to have a wonderful 12 year old son. He is a kind and bright child but like anyone he has his challenges, he has ADHD and ASD and he struggles with incontinence meaning that he needs to shower himself more than average, he also has issues with maintaining personal hygiene something that in the past was manageable with a bath as he enjoys playing in a bath with bath bombs and its far easier to help him keep clean with a bath instead of a shower.

The state of the bathroom
When we got the house it had been adapted for assisted living and that includes a shower with a seat that is secured through the wall into our bedroom, whoever originally installed this bathroom did not do a good job of making it watertight or neat, the shower tray has gaps where the water get through and leak through to the kitchen below and the shower itself leaks a little at the pipe join in the airing cupboard as well. About 18 months after we moved in the shower door fell off and since then we have had to jerry rig a shower curtain to keep the shower partly useable. The toilet when we moved in had not been screwed to the floor and moved when you sat on it as well as the overflow constantly running and leaving a streak of water damage down the outside wall, the cistern also leaks slowly down the in pipe causing corrosion and black mould. The windows are all in need of being replaced as the seals are coming out though to be honest that is low on our priority list! The sink was ok but our Son leant on it too hard around a year or so ago and it came off the wall splitting the hot water pipe, we got an emergency plumber who capped the pipe at the time and propped the sink back on its plinth but sadly it still leaks from a small crack that was missed so we keep a tray under it to catch the drips, again this has caused black mould to spread on the floor and in the wall behind the tiles, not to mention we no longer have a working hot tap. As I mentioned before our son has washing issues and had come to depend on a bath so in an attempt to make the most of what we had we had got a portable foldable bath that fit in the shower and this was working great, he would tell us when he was done and we would empty it carefully until a baaaad day! we were silting in the living room going about our day when all of a sudden the power tripped off, my husband went down to look at the fuse box and I went to see if I could find out what had happened, when I got to the kitchen there was a waterfall coming through the ceiling straight through one of the light fittings, I of course yelled for him to NOT turn the power back on and called him to see, I went up to see what had happened and found our son frozen is shock in the bathroom, apparently he had tripped when getting out of the bath and the whole thing went over emptying about 200 litres of water through our kitchen ceiling. Calming him down and explaining we weren't angry with him took me a little while and by the time i got back downstairs I was just in time to warn my husband 'get out quick the ceilings coming down!' before most of our kitchen celling landed on the floor. this was very disheartening for us as the kitchen was the one room we had spent money on and had only been fitted a few weeks at this time.

What we want
We are trying to get our bathroom replaced with one that works, I have no problem doing some of the work myself to make it cheaper, if we have any money left over after that we might get the window replaced and who knows maybe a new ceiling for the kitchen (for now the hole is covered with a fabric wall hanging) We dont need luxury, just a clean mould free bathroom with a bath with shower over, a sink and a toilet. We are desperate and can't see any other way to get the money we need to get this done.
