My Friends and all kind people that will read this,
Today I am asking for your help. Believe me, it is not an easy task for me, but I would do anything for my kids.
Some of you may know Olivia’s story . In short, 4 years ago God sent us a special baby. So special that all our past problems, troubles and fuss seemed to be absolutely nothing compared to what we had to deal with when Olivia was diagnosed with Rett syndrome. It is a very complex untreatable (YET) genetic condition which happens 99% randomly and mostly to girls. It affects all aspects of Olivia’s life and ours as a family.
On the positive side, Olivia is pure joy and a blessing to us with her beautiful and smart eyes that look right into your soul. She is our number one teacher of patience, unconditional love and gratitude.
We spent many hours researching about her condition, the ways how to provide the best care, how to help her meet the highest potential to live a full life. We’re also following the latest research into the development of a cure. We believe it is coming soon, but now we have to face our current challenges.
For us, as parents, it is extremely important to find a way to communicate with Olivia. She is non-verbal and her only communication tool is her eyes. She has great eye contact and we know that she is there, she is aware and she understands much more than she can express.
So what we are raising money for is a special eye-gaze (or eye-tracker) device called Tobii Dynavox that will help Olivia find her voice to be able to communicate with the world. There is a solid base of evidence that Rett people are smart. They can master this device and use the Right For Communication in full by their eyes only.
The original price of this equipment was way out of our reach, but at the moment Tobii Dynavox has a very special offer which we would love to take. Please, help us raise £ 3,500 by contributing any amount, even a couple of pounds will make a difference. We would be forever grateful for your generosity. That would be the best Christmas present ever!
