My cat, Olive, is fighting for her life in the hospital right now with kidney failure, and I need help to save her. In just two weeks, she lost three pounds, became lethargic, stopped eating, and started licking off her own fur. I took her to the vet thinking it might be stress, but I got devastating news instead.
She’s now hospitalized, and the vets believe it could be one of three things:
- FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), which is treatable.
- Toxic poisoning, which has uncertain treatment options.
- Congenital kidney failure, which has no cure.
To even find out if she has a chance at treatment, she needs to stay in the hospital for two nights, which ranges from $7k-$9k and is only just the first part of the healing process if it’s treatable.
I adopted Olive nearly two years ago when she was a tiny 1.3 pound stray hiding in a car engine. I wasn’t planning to be a pet owner at the time, but the moment I pulled her out, I knew she was mine. Since then, she has been my best friend - moving across the country with me, sleeping by my side every night, and making my life brighter in every way.
I can’t imagine a world where I don’t fight for Olive. If there’s even a chance of saving her, I have to try.
We never expected the costs to be anywhere near this, and were totally shocked when the pet emergency center told us how much it would be.
I know times are tough, but if you’re able to donate anything, even a few dollars, it would mean the world to me and Olive. If you can’t donate, please share this so more people can see it.
