Hi everyone… I’m honestly heartbroken writing this, but I need help for my cat, Odin.

A couple of days ago, something happened at home. Our dogs got into the house and got too rowdy, and we still don’t know exactly how, but Odin’s bottom jaw was broken. What breaks my heart the most is that we had no idea he was hurt — he hid himself away for almost a day and a half. We thought he was missing. He was suffering in silence somewhere in the house until he finally came out, and the second I saw him, I knew something was horribly wrong.

I rushed him to the emergency animal hospital, and that’s when they told me what I was hoping not to hear...

Odin’s jaw wasn’t just broken — part of the bone is infected or dead. He will probably need surgery to remove part, or possibly most, of his lower jaw.

Hearing that absolutely crushed me.

The emergency hospital couldn’t do the surgery because it’s too specialized, so now we have to wait for the specialist. They said the surgery alone will likely cost $5,000 or more.

And the emergency hospital stay — two nights, a full day of care, X-rays, meds, fluids, and placing a feeding tube — already cost $2,600, which I paid.

Right now, Odin has a feeding tube in his neck so we can give him food and all his medications without hurting him. He’s trying so hard to be strong. He still purrs the second we touch him. He still rolls over and shows his belly when we come into his cage. Even with a broken jaw, even after everything he’s been through, he’s still the sweetest boy.

He’s trying to eat a tiny bit of soft food on his own, but it’s incredibly painful and he can barely get anything down. He needs this surgery. It’s the only way he’ll be able to eat normally again and have a real chance at a healthy, happy life.

I’m doing everything I can for him, but I can’t afford this on my own. Asking for help like this is hard, but Odin means the world to me, and I’m willing to do anything to get him through this.
