Help Norville's Bake Shop Achieve Our Dream

Hi! My name is Mayura Norville, and I am the baker at Norville's Bake Shop. Norville's Bake Shop (formerly Cakes and a Cookie) was started 3 years ago as a true labor of love. My mom always showed her love through food, and I like to think I have continued her legacy by showing my love through baking. Baking has always been a passion of mine and I have always baked for my family and friends. It always warms my heart when people enjoy my treats. A few days after having our fourth child in September 2021, a casual conversation with a dear friend turned into a small home-based bakery.

Although I am the baker, this is a family business. My ever-supportive husband, Shawn, has spent countless days and nights helping me package cookies, setting up my tents at fairs, and helping in so many other ways that I've lost track. And our kids have been troopers. They have learned to steer clear of the kitchen when mommy is baking, unless it's taste test time! They are the best at trying new recipes and giving honest (sometimes too honest!) feedback.

I am so thankful for how far this passion project has come. I could have never imagined all the support I have gotten from friends and family, and it is truly humbling. The ultimate dream has always been to have a brick-and-mortar shop to share my treats with people as well as create a friendly, warm experience. Shawn and I always saw this as something that could potentially happen a few years down the line. With 4 young kids, working full time, and just life, it's been hard to imagine making this a reality. After being laid off in July, I decided that I would put all my eggs in one basket (pun intended!) and work on Norville's Bake Shop full time. The results have been amazing with an increased customer base and so much positive feedback. But still, an actual store seemed like a pipe dream.

Until now......

We have been offered an incredible opportunity to make our dreams come true! We have found an available space right near our home that could be the perfect home for our bake shop. But to make this happen, we will need to invest in kitchen equipment and some TLC for the space, as well as a few months of rent as we ramp up. The total for this is $50,000 but for now we are setting a lower goal as we are grateful for anything to help us achieve our dream. If things go well we may increase as go. We realize the timing may not be ideal given the holiday season, but this is an incredible opportunity that we have to pursue. Anything would help us get closer to our dream of opening up our own family bake shop. We are so grateful for any and all support and look forward to sharing our journey with you.
