Help Nikola Get a Second Chance at a Seizure-Free Life
Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
We are reaching out with hope in our hearts for our beloved Nikola Mrdaković, a brave boy who has been fighting a difficult battle with epilepsy.
Nikola has already undergone one surgery that successfully stopped one type of seizure, but sadly, his struggle is not over. His doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital have recommended a second surgery, which gives us hope that Nikola may finally be free from the seizures that affect his daily life.
This surgery could be life-changing, but it comes with significant expenses. We are raising funds to cover:
-Medical costs related to the surgery
-Travel expenses to Houston, Texas
-Accommodation and living expenses during treatment
Every donation, no matter how small, brings Nikola one step closer to the future he deserves — a life without constant seizures, a life filled with opportunities and peace.
Please consider supporting Nikola’s journey. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with others is also a huge help.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
With gratitude,
Nikola’s Family
Nikola's diagnosis
In May 2016, Nikola was hospitalized for suspected infant spasms. At two months, nystagmus (involuntary eyeball twitches) appeared. At the examination, whitish changes were observed in both eyes, and Nikola was diagnosed with Tuberous sclerosis (Q 85.1 Sclerosis tuberose) - a multisystem disease that occurs through a gene mutation.
It is a rare disease that cannot be completely cured and is extremely unpredictable, ranging from a very mild condition to a complete dysfunction and severe mental retardation. Nikola has a more severe form of this disease.
At the age of four months, Nikola got his first epileptic seizure, caused by benign changes in the cortex of the brain and in the brain itself. After many treatments that did not lead to improvement, Nikola was diagnosed with pharmacoresistant epilepsy (G 40.5 Syndromata epileptica specifica) that cannot be controlled by any medication. In addition to changes in the brain, as part of the disease Nikola has changes in both eyes, skin and kidneys.
For a better life for Nikola. Let's be human!
Let's help Nikola!
