Niko is my very handsome Bengal.

He loves going out on walks, car rides, and exploring. He is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on all shots. We did everything right, except for one thing.

Unfortunately, on Monday, April 21, his safety collar snapped off while we were on a walk. I made the mistake of taking him out without his harness. I was left with his leash attached to his collar and GPS tracker. We lost track of him after he went over a fence. We knocked on doors, made multiple posts, and called out for him with no luck and no response from him.

This Tuesday at around 12 noon, I went outside once again to call out for him and rattle his food around. This time I heard a response, but he wasn't coming toward me. I got closer and closer until I spotted him crouched down next to my fence, unable to walk.

Immediately, I took him to the ER. They ran multiple tests, x-rays, and an ultrasound.

His results: broken pelvis on one side and displacement of his hip on the other. He is anemic, and there is narrowing in his colon due to the fracture that could potentially cause him to be unable to go potty.

I was referred to a vet that can do the surgery, but unfortunately, they were quoting me $8,000.

We made multiple calls and looked for financial assistance but had no luck.

Finally, I got a call back from Tanasbourne ER in Beaverton, and they said they are able to do the surgery for about $4,500 max. This includes the initial exam and any medication that needs to go home.

Although this gave me a breath of relief and hope, this is still too much for our family to be able to afford.
